Union Gap Mayor Aubrey Reeves says he's concerned about his city's public image.
Two weeks ago, Yakima Police Arrested city councilman Dale Glaspey. They say he sold cocaine to an informant at his family-owned convenience store. Reeves says the arrest could make residents skeptical of other city leaders. To restore public trust, he has asked all council members to volunteer for drug tests.
Council Member Jim Lemon has already done a drug test and it came back negative for drugs. Mayor Reeves and Council Member Glen Bateman have also taken the test. They're still waiting for the lab to process the results. Mayor Reeves says the tests are only voluntary. He says it's against the law to require city council members to undergo drug testing. |
